![]() “Oh Lord Krishna, you perform various wonderful pastimes, among all incarnations you are the crest jewel of them (सर्वअवतारों शिरोमणि). ![]() ![]() Madhusudhan Saraswati in his Bhagavad Gita 7.24 Bhasya says. It’s a well known fact that he being a prominent Advaitin Acarya was highly devoted to Lord Krishna. He composed various works, in glorification of Lord Krishna, much more than for any other deity. Madhusudhan Saraswati was highly devoted to Lord Krishna alone, and none else. He is praised by Advaitin acaryas as one whose limit of knowledge can only be known by Mother Saraswati. To begin with, Madhusudhan Saraswati, the foremost Advaitin Acarya after Shankaracarya in terms of polemics, was extremely famous for his rivalry with Madhva sampradyik acaryas. Infact there are evidences from even prominent Advaitins or Shankara Sampradayik acaryas, who believed Krishna was the most unique and supreme form amongst the Vishnu tattva forms. Only after they are unmanifest will everyone receive them.” “‘My Pastimes as Gaura are very confidential keep them secret. “Seeing the eagerness of Rāmānuja, Jagannāth said, ‘O Rāmānuja, do not speak this way. In the same chapter Verse 38 – 39 we find the following. ![]() Later, I (Chaitanya) will develop your pure conception.’’ “‘Now (O Madhvacarya), carefully eradicate illusionism and false scriptures from all regions, and establish the glory of the Lord’s Deity form. It’s a very lengthy topic and needs a different article on it’s own, to summarize it as short as possible, Sri Bhaktivinoda Thakur notes in his Nawadwip Dhama Mahatmya 15.85, where Chaitanya Mahaprabhu tells to Sri Madhvacarya the following. According to the perfect understanding of the Gaudiyas, that was Madhvacarya’s preaching strategy, and he purposely left loopholes. Refutation- Without any doubt, but using that line of reasoning we cannot forcibly interpret Madhvacarya’s SB 1.3.28 bhasya into meaning something else which is in complete contradiction to what he actually wrote, using word jugglery. Objection- There are many instances of Madhvacarya establishing Vishnu as the source of Krishna. Madhvacarya very cleverly quotes Brahma Vaivarta Purana which is flooded with pro-krishnite doctrine, so that it makes a triple verification of what he meant to say. “Krishna is the original form, the Jivas are his pratibimba amsas, & His incarnations such as Varaha Dev and the like are Lord Hari themselves, so says the Brahma Vaivarta Purana.”Īthough SB 1.3.28 and its context unequivocally states that Krishna is the root & source of all incarnations, all other incarnations are his expansions or partial expansions, he is the fountain head of all incarnations, yet Madhvacarya didn’t feel the need to clear the message of SB 1.3.28 to others? On the contrary, he states Krishna indeed is the Mula-rupa, the original form, the root. In his work Bhāgavata-tātparya-nirṇaya, a conclusive commentary on Bhagavatam, Madhvacarya while commenting on SB 1.3.28, the famous Krishnas tu Bhagavan Svayam shloka, says. It is a fact that the idea of Krishna to be the avataari is accepted by the very founder acarya of Madhva sampraday, namely - Sri Madhvacarya himself. In fact the most ancient alvar saints of Sri sampraday were flooded with devotion to Lord Krishna, not much to the other forms of the Lord. Thus, majority of standard Vaishnav sampradays are not only Krishna centric, but also share much greater antiquity than those which are Vishnu or Rama centric. Followers of Kumara sampraday’s founder Sripad Nimbarkacarya, inform that he was from 3096 BC (about five thousand years ago from today), the indologists date him around the 11th and 12th century, but this dating has been questioned, and other Indologists suggest that he lived somewhat earlier than Shankaracharya, in the 6th or 7th century CE. The oldest among all other Vaishnav sampradays is also a Krishna centric sampraday, i.e. Among 5 major Sampradays, 3 namely the Rudra, Kumara, and Gaudiya Sampraday subscribe to Krishna, one Sampraday for Lord Rama and two sampraday namely the Sri Vaishnav and Madhva for Narayana. the source of all incarnations, but majority of standard Vishnav Sampradays agree for Krishna being the Avataari. It is not the Gaudiyas alone who say Krishna is the avataari, i.e.
